A-10 Honors For Golf's Gallo and Tyler Too

WASHINGTON, DC - GW's Andrew Gallo (Thornhill, Ontario/Crescent) and Jack Tyler (Novi, MI/Novi) have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference men's golf Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office has announced.

Gallo fired a three-under-par 141 (72-69) to win the Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational Sept. 29 at the par-72, 6,615-yard Kings Creek Country Club on the Delaware shore. Gallo's performance helped George Washington capture the team title as well with a 588 (297-291), a team record for the 36-hole event.

It marked the second tournament victory for Gallo in his brief GW career. He also won the Temple Invitational as a freshman Oct. 6, 2002.

At the Temple Invitational, Gallo's 156 (80-76) was good for 17th out of 63 golfers at the par-71, 6,693-yard Glenmaura National Golf Club near Scranton, PA.

Tyler tied for 11th among 51 golfers at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational tied for 35th at the Temple Invitational. He carded a seven-over 151 at Kings Creek. Along with Gallo, Tyler's performance helped the Colonials win the nine-team event.

Gallo's 72.9 stroke average leads the team and he has a pair of Top 10 finishes and one Top 20 finish this season. Tyler's 74.2 stroke average is third-best on the squad and he also has a pair of Top 10 finishes and one Top 20 finish this season.

GW next competes in the 54-hole Yale McDonald Cup, Oct. 10-12, at the Yale Golf Club in New Haven, CT.
