Golf's Tyler Wendelken Named A-10 Rookie of the Week for Second Straight Week

Oct. 9, 2006

WASHINGTON, DC -- GW freshman Tyler Wendelken has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for golf, the league office announced Monday. It marks the second straight week Wendelken has won the honor.

The freshman from Sammamish, WA, was the low Colonial with a three-round 216 (75-71-70) which included a pair of eagles, in the Joe Agee Invitational last Monday and Tuesday at the par-70, 6,646-yard Stonehouse Golf Course, in Toano, VA.

Wendelken tied for 19th place out of a total of 97 players. He now has a Top 10 and a Top 20 finish in his first three collegiate tournaments and his 72.3 stroke average leads the Colonials.

The GW golf team next competes at the Penn Invitational on Oct. 14-15 in Philadelphia.
