Oct. 11, 2005 WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington's Brian Carroll (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week in the sport of men's golf, the conference office announced Monday. It marks his first A-10 weekly honor this season and the third of his stellar career. The 2005 A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year for golf, Carroll won the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William & Mary last Monday and Tuesday at Williamsburg, VA. Carroll recorded 13 birdies during the 54-hole tournament. Carroll posted scores of 70-72-68 for a six-under-par 210 to defeat 63 other golfers. His third-round 68 is his low round this season. He leads the team with a 71.7 stroke average through seven rounds in three tournaments. Carroll's performance helped lead the Colonials to the team title at the Joe Agee Invitational with a total 865 (285-288-292) at the par-72, 6,868-yard Two Rivers Country Club. It was GW's first tournament victory this season and marked the ninth straight tournament that GW has placed either first or second in the final team standings dating back to last season. Carroll and the Colonials are in Waco, TX competing in the Baylor Invitational.
