NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW golf freshman Michael Heda was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Thursday after equaling the best finish among A-10 freshmen at the Old Dominion/OuterBanks Intercollegiate earlier this week.

Heda's 2-over-par 215 (71-73-71) tied for 19th out of 92 players at the 54-hole ODU/OBX event along with VCU's Hanish Nagrani, with whom Heda shares this week's honor. It marks the first conference weekly award of Heda's career and first for a GW golfer since teammate Jack Persons earned a share of his fourth A-10 Rookie of the Week honor on April 25, 2012.

Heda tied for third in the ODU/OBX field with 39 total pars, while his Par-3 (T-3rd, 1-under) and Par-5 (T-10th, 5-under) scoring was among the best in the event on the par-71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club course. Through six rounds in his opening two collegiate tournaments, Heda paces GW with a 72.67 scoring average and is tied with fellow freshman Lucas Farmer for a team-best three rounds of par-or-better.

Heda and the Colonials return to action at East Carolina's Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C., Oct. 28-29.
