Persons set new GW men’s golf 36- and 54-hole scoring records at the Old Dominion/Outerbanks Collegiate last week where he posted an impressive fourth-place finish. Persons shot a two-round total of 138 and a three-round score of 207 to top Brian Carroll’s (’06) previous marks of 139 and 210, both set in 2005. For his efforts at the tournament, the San Francisco, Calif., native swept the Atlantic 10 Performer and Rookie of the Week Awards last Wednesday. This past Sunday, Persons shot a first-round 2-under 70 to tie for second place out of 105 golfers on the opening day of the three-day Kiawah Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.
