WASHINGTON, DC (Nov. 6, 2001) - GW's Thomas Blankvoort (Curacao, Netherlands Antilles/International School of the Hague) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week for men's golf, the league office has announced.

Blankvoort shot a two-over-par 146 (70-76) to finish in a four-way tie for 16th out of 104 individuals in the 36-hole ODU/Seascape Collegiate, Oct. 29-30, at Kitty Hawk, NC. His score helped lead the GW Golf team to a 16th place-showing in the 21-team tournament. The field included three Top-50 teams. The Colonials combined for a 617 (316-301) at the par-72, 6,469-yard Seascape Golf Course.

Blankvoort leads the Colonials with a 72.3 stroke average. He has twice shot rounds of 69 and has five top 20 finishes in six tournaments this fall.

The Colonials resume competition in the spring season at the New Orleans Collegiate Classic, Mar. 11-12, at Eastover Country Club.
