Scott Allen is in his seventh year as head coach of The George Washington University golf team. Allen graduated from GW in 1993 with a B.A. in political science and minors in history and economics. He spent his freshman year at the University of Delaware where he redshirted his first season on the golf team. After transferring to GW he lettered in golf four times, started all four years, and was team captain for three years. While at GW, Allen led the team to what was then its highest finish ever in the NCAA Division I, District II Region, when the team finished 12th in District II his fourth year. He was the team MVP that year and led the Colonials in scoring average and top-five finishes his last two years. He had second-place finishes at the 1992 and '93 Mount St. Mary's Invitational, the '93 Pinehurst Sandhills Intercollegiate, '92 Western Maryland Invitational, and '92 Wesley College Invitational, as well as several other top 10 finishes. Currently ranked second in school history in Top 5 finishes (with seven), and third in starts (with 67), Allen was one of the Colonials' most consistent players, he is the only Colonial with more than 30 rounds played to have his score count in every match started.
In addition to his duties as golf coach, Allen is GW's NCAA Assistant Compliance Director and the Recruiting Coordinator for all the other coaches. He is a Class A member of the PGA of America and is the Director of Instruction at Fairfax National Golf Club in Centreville, Va. He also teaches at the Capital City Golf School at East Potomac Park in Washington, DC. Allen expects to complete his master's degree from GW in International Affairs in the fall.
Allen continues to play competitively within the Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA. He and his wife Alicia reside in Fairfax, VA.
