Matt Fitzgerald was named the assistant men's rowing coach in September 2010. His primary responsibility will be coaching the freshmen rowers. He will also play a major role in recruiting.
Fitzgerald has spent the last 10 years as the varsity rowing coach at the Salisbury School in Salisbury, CT. He has led his team to both silver and bronze finishes at the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship. During his time at the Salisbury School, he has also coached teams in the 2008 Henley Royal Regatta, Princess Elizabeth Cup, Marlowe Regatta, Reading Regatta and the Head of Charles Regatta.
He has also served as an assistant varsity football coach at Salisbury School, helping his team to the New England Class-A Championship in 2000 and 2006. Additionally, he was the head coach of the junior varsity football team, leading his team to undefeated seasons in 2005 and 2006.
Fitzgerald also worked at the Salisbury School as the Director of Information Services and the Director of Educational Technology. Additionally, he taught courses in mathematics and computer science.
A 1994 graduate of Dartmouth College, he was a four-year member of the men's varsity heavyweight rowing team. He received his bachelor's degree in Government/International Relations. Fitzgerald received his Master of Arts in Computing in Education from Columbia University in 2005.
