GW Men's Rowing Oarsmen Shine at Royal Canadian Henley Regatta

Delaney Medals Five Times at Top Amateur Rowing Event in North America

At GW: Studied the relationship between European politics and extremism at American University of Paris in Fall 2017 semester.

Summer 2016: Trained with Riverside Boat Club...sat seven seat of the U23 Men's Eight...placed fourth at Canadian Henley Regatta, third at Independence Day Regatta, and first place at Cromwell Cup.

2015-16 Season: Sat six seat of the fourth varsity eight throughout the spring that finished sixth overall at the Eastern Sprints Regatta (6:12.925).

High School/Club: Rows out of Riverside Boat Club... placed seventeenth at Youth Nationals in the eight... placed fourteenth at Club Nationals in the four... played rugby for two years prior to rowing... several music and poetry awards.

Personal: Born James Hawthorne on 05/24/1996... son of Carol and Christopher Hawthorne... father rowed for GW, aunt rowed for Wellesley... one sister, Emily... attended St. John's Preparatory School... enjoys composing music, painting, political discourse, and fine cheeses... intended major is International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies.
