Boston, MA - The George Washington University Men's Varsity Eight raced this past Sunday in the Championship Eights event at the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA. The team of Amy Garrison, Joe DeLeo, Henry Roosevelt, Jon D'Alba, Michael Mancusi-Ungaro, Pete Magee, Ben Lookner, Alex DelSordo, and Oliver Blodgett ended up placing 25th in a field that included the US National Team as well as many of the top US and international collegiate and club teams. GW placed 18th out of the US colleges competing in the event, finishing in a time of 15:06.1. The top US collegiate crew was the University of Washington, who finished 2nd overall at 14:21.9. The US National Team won the event, posting a time of 14:09.7.

"Looking over the results of this event from the last 8 years, this is the closest by far that we've been to the leaders, in terms of time," said coach Greg Myhr. "That said, a lot of our competition was well out in front of us and even more were right behind. This race gives us an idea of how we are currently stacking up, but a lot can and will change by the spring racing season. We're in the mix right now, but everyone will be pressing hard all winter, and we've got our work cut out for us to be ready for next spring," finished Myhr.

Next up for the Colonials is the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia this Saturday, and then the Princeton Chase on Sunday in Princeton, NJ.
