WASHINGTON - Six members of the George Washington men's rowing team have been named to the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic Team, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced today.

Rising-seniors Ellee Watson and Jonathan Ghaul were honored for the second consecutive year while Keenan Freyberg, who graduated last month with a degree in International Affairs, earned his second appearance on the All-Academic Team following his initial nod in 2014. They are joined by first-time honorees Bob Hobert, Matt Weaver and Jess Hagler.

A total of 336 student-athletes from 37 member institutions were recognized for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.35 or higher. The honorees must be a sophomore in academic standing and have competed at this year's IRA National Championships.

Ghaul (No. 6 seat) and Hobert (No.2) each competed in GW's Varsity 8 at the IRA National Championship, which finished ranked No. 18 in the nation after the three-day event in early June.

Watson served as coxswain of the 2nd Varsity 8, directing oarsman Weaver (No. 3) and the rest of the crew to a final national ranking of No. 12.

Hagler coxed the 3rd Varsity 8, leading Freyburg (No. 5) and the crew to a fifth-place finish in the Petite Final, and a final national ranking of No. 11, at the IRA National Championship.
