Men’s Rowing Lands Eight on IRA All-Academic Team

WASHINGTON
– Eight members of the George Washington men’s rowing team earned a place on the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic Team, the IRA Board of Stewards has announced.

To be eligible for recognition, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.35 or higher and completed one full year at their institution, be an institutional letterwinner and have competed at the 2018 IRA National Championship.

A total of 302 student-athletes from 28 member institutions were recognized.

Rising seniors Jess Hagler and Bob Hobert highlighted GW’s honorees with their third straight appearance on the All-Academic Team.

Rising seniors Colin Burns and Berkeley Melvin, along with recent graduates John Alvarino and Maddux Castle, all made their second career appearance on the team and were joined by first-time honorees in rising seniors Jack Schwirtz and Matt Kerwin.
