Men's Rowing Lands 11 on IRA All-Academic Team

WASHINGTON - Eleven members of the George Washington men's rowing team earned a place on the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic Team, the IRA Board of Stewards announced late last month.

To be eligible for recognition, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.35 or higher and completed one full year at their institution, be an institutional letterwinner and have competed at the 2017 IRA National Championship.

A total of 336 student-athletes from 32 member institutions were recognized.

Recent graduates Ellee Watson and Jonathan Ghaul highlighted GW's honorees with their third straight appearance on the All-Academic Team.

Rising juniors Bob Hobert and Jess Hagler, along with recent graduates Alastair Watson, Devin Hisarli and Max Reisser, all made their second career appearance on the team and were joined by first-time honorees in rising juniors Colin Burns and Berkeley Melvin as well as rising seniors John Alvarino and Maddux Castle.
