Colonials Post Eight-Match Turnaround, Reach A-10 Championship Match in Coach Lidster's Final Season
Mike Madigan is in his second season as assistant coach in charge of goalkeepers on head coach George Lidster's staff and serving as a volunteer assistant in 2009.
Madigan arrived at GW after serving four seasons as an assistant coach handling goalkeepers at Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, MN. While at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Madigan helped create and served as admission associate at the school's Center of Excellence for soccer and also served as Director of Community Programs. Highlights of his time at SSM include working as an assistant with the 2008 U-18 Boys US Youth Soccer National finalists and assisting with the development of over 20 NCAA Division I players.
A graduate of Macalester College (MN), Madigan earned NSCAA All-Region honors as a goalkeeper while posting the third best goals against average (GAA) in NCAA Division III in 2002. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Madigan accepted a position as a graduate assistant coach at Penn State Behrend.
Following his stint at Penn State Behrend, Madigan returned to Minnesota to pursue a professional playing opportunity with the USL's Minnesota Thunder. During his time with the Thunder, Madigan coached in the community with several youth teams as well as serving as the Director of Coaching for the Sibley Sting Soccer Club.
As an age group coach and goalkeeper trainer, Madigan was a Minnesota ODP State Staff Coach for 10 years. He has also coached goalkeepers at three colleges including Penn State-Behrend, St. Thomas University, and Northwestern (MN). He currently holds a USSF B license, and a NSCAA Level III (National) Goalkeeper Coaching Certification.
Madigan resides in Washington, DC, and coaches within Loudoun Youth Soccer.
