LEXINGTON, VA - The George Washington men's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals to post a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over VMI in its final preseason exhibition match at Patchin Field Saturday afternoon.

The host Keydets took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on Amir Shihata's low shot from 19 yards away.

Junior Yoni Berhanu equalized in the 71st minute by bending in a free kick from 24 yards.

The Colonials appeared headed for a second straight exhibition draw until the 85th minute when freshman Alex Sandland's midfield free kick caught the Keydets' goalkeeper off his line and sailed into the net for the game-winning tally.

GW held a 24-13 edge in shots and 10-5 advantage in shots on target.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Laffery played the opening 83 minutes and made four saves.

GW kicks off the 2010 season against George Mason Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the first match of the DC College Cup at American University's Reeves Field
