DURHAM, NC - The Colonials dropped their second match of the weekend as the N.C. State Wolfpack upended George Washington, 3-1 in the Adidas Classic at Duke University.
GW fell to 2-2 on the season despite putting eight of their 12 shots on goal for the day. The Wolfpack (1-3) slipped three shots past freshman goalkeeper Derek Biss, who made his second start for the Colonials this season. Biss had a strong performance against Duke on Friday, but was unable to stop N.C. State's attack.
Senior forward Matt Osborne scored GW's lone goal, converting a cross through the box by senior midfielder Michael Goldman.
Biss and junior forward Arnar Johannsson were named to the Adidas Classic All-Tournament team.
The Colonials return to action in their home opener on Sunday, September 15, in a 2:00 p.m. match at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
