JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Senior Tyler Ranalli scored for the fifth time this season, but his rally wasn't enough as the George Washington men's soccer team fell to host Saint Peter's, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Jaroschak Field.

After a scoreless first half, Saint Peter's (1-3-1) found the back of the net 35 seconds into the second stanza, as Marcel Maddee and Luke Fairlamb passed the ball ahead to Nick Sifrin, who gave the Peacocks a 1-0 lead.

The score remained the same for nearly 33 minutes until Maddee served in a corner kick, which Louis Mobbs headed into the net in the 79th minute with what proved to be the game-winner.

With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Ranalli converted a feed from freshman Angel Valencia to put GW (3-3-0) on the scoreboard and account for the 2-1 final. The goal was Ranalli's career-high fifth of the season and the fourth in the last two games for the Atlantic 10's leading scorer, while it was Valencia's third assist of the year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jean-Pierre van der Merwe recorded a season-high six saves, while Saint Peter's goalie David Giddings stopped two shots, as the Peacocks outshot the Colonials, 10-4, in the game.

The Colonials return to action on Saturday when they host Navy at 3 p.m. at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus. Fans are invited to a free Kickin' It at the Vern cookout beginning at 2:30 p.m.
