Late Second-Half Surge Secures Victory Over Radford

RADFORD, VA - The George Washington men's soccer team scored three goals in the final 10 minutes to rally past the Radford Highlanders, 3-1 for their fourth victory of the season.
After a scoreless first half, RU (2-3-1) took the lead at the 50:14 mark, when the Highlanders' Andres Hernandez scored off a back-heel pass from Jon Fosu. The goal with be the only score GW's keeper junior Eric Lund would allow, turning in a strong performance, facing 14 shots and making six saves.
The Colonials (4-3) broke through in the 82nd minute of play when senior midfielder Riccardo Forno netted his first goal of the year off two well-placed passes from freshmen Steve Brown and Frank Ambrosio.
Forno's score opened the floodgates, as GW struck again less than two minutes later at the 84:08 mark, when senior midfielder Michael Goldman put a pass from Forno into the back of the net for the game-winner.
The Colonials added an insurance goal three and a half minutes later at the 87:39 mark, when Goldman and junior forward Fabio Andrade set up senior Matt Osborne for his fifth goal of the season.
The Colonials return to work on Thursday, September 26, when they travel to take on Towson in a 3:00 p.m. match.
