ST. LOUIS, MO - Senior Hermann Trophy candidate Andy Stadler gave the Colonials a 1-0 lead four minutes into the match, but the George Washington men's soccer team surrendered four unanswered goals to fall 4-1 in its first-ever trip to Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis on Sunday.
GW falls to 6-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the A-10, while Saint Louis moves to 7-4-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference. The Colonials finish their five-match road swing with league games at La Salle (Friday, 7:00 pm) and Fordham (Sunday, 1:00 pm) next weekend.
Stadler finished a breakaway at the 4:00 mark for his team and Atlantic 10-leading ninth goal of the season, but the Billikens tallied three first-half goals and a fourth midway through the second half to keep the Colonials winless in league play after two matches.
Alex Sweetin evened the match at 1-1 in the 22nd minute, James Jaramillo netted the game-winner in the 34th and Tim Ream added goals in the 38th and 69th minutes for SLU.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Erik Haug made six saves on the Billikens' 18 shots, while Ross Kaufman turned away three of the Colonials' 10 attempts.
Stadler, who entered the week tied for third in the nation with 1.00 goals per game, now has 31 career goals and 75 career points, totals that rank sixth and seventh on GW's all-time lists, respectively.
