Men's Soccer Battles Hawks to a Draw, 0-0

Oct. 24, 2003

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington and Saint Joseph's clashed for 110 minutes of play between regulation and two overtime periods before ending their Atlantic 10 match in a scoreless deadlock.

GW (5-9-1, 3-3-1) out-shot their hosts 14-10, but solid goalkeeping by both teams kept the scoreboard stuck on zeros. GW's keeper, sophomore Derek Biss, made six saves versus the Hawks (7-7-1, 4-2-1) while SJU's keeper Kevin Dougher did his part to keep the Colonials scoreless with seven saves of his own.

Biss preserved the tie late in the second overtime with his final save of the evening, diving to stop a point-blank shot by SJU's Joe Grayauskie with just 1:10 left in the match.

Freshman forward Joe Siegel had two solid chances to give GW the victory in the final six minutes of the second overtime, but was denied both times by Dougher.

The Colonials travel to Temple for their next match on Sunday, October 27, in a 1:00 p.m. game.
