Men's Soccer Allows Pair Late in 3-1 Loss at Bonaventure

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - George Washington men's soccer sophomore forward Seth Rudolph equalized in the 11th minute, but St. Bonaventure scored in the 74th and 88th minutes to deal the Colonials a 3-1 Atlantic 10 loss at McGraw-Jennings Field Friday afternoon.

Rudolph's team-leading sixth goal of the season snapped a streak of four consecutive scoreless matches for GW (2-13-0, 0-6-0 A-10) and knotted Friday's match at 1-1 at the 10:47 mark of the first half. Rookie Jeff Eisenbud provided the assist via a low cross in front of goal.

The two teams played the next hour without a goal until Emmett O'Connor, who netted the Bonnies' first goal just 64 seconds into the contest, struck for the game-winner with 16:23 remaining.

St. Bonaventure's (9-7-0, 4-3-0 A-10) Fabrizio Savarino added an insurance goal with 2:49 left for the 3-1 final margin. The victory currently moves the Bonnies into third place in the A-10 table with several Friday matches remaining to be played.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Lafferty made a career-high six saves on 22 shots faced. SBU goalkeeper David Flynn stopped three shots on GW's 12 attempts.

GW continues its four-match road swing to complete the 2010 season Sunday at Duquesne. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
