Rudolph Tallies in Men's Soccer's Loss at Temple
Sophomore Striker Leads GW With Seven Goals in 2010
Nov. 5, 2010
AMBLER, PA - Sophomore striker Seth Rudolph netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 64th minute, but the George Washington men's soccer team couldn't find the late equalizer in a 2-1 loss to Temple at Ambler Sports Complex Friday.
The Colonials surrendered goals in the 11th and 50th minutes to fall behind 2-0, but closed within a goal on Rudolph's goal supplied by a midfield pass from junior Yoni Berhanu, who now leads the team with two assists.
Rudolph is tied for third in the Atlantic 10 with seven goals and tied for fourth in the league with 15 points after Friday's match against the Owls.
GW kept pressuring Temple (7-8-2, 5-3-0 A-10) and nearly got an equalizer with two scoring opportunities in the final five minutes. Owls goalkeeper Bret Mollon made one of his two saves on a close-range header from senior Marcus Ranney in the 86th minute.
Ranney then nearly set up a header chance with two seconds left, but Mollon punched away the dangerous service to keep Temple in contention for an A-10 Championship bid.
Senior goalkeeper Erik Haug made five saves on 14 shots faced, while Mollon made his pair of stops on six shots faced.
GW (2-15-0, 0-8-0 A-10) completes its season Sunday at Saint Joseph's (2-13-0, 1-6-0 A-10). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
