Men's Soccer Adds Three Recruits for 2007
Trott, Wujek, Haug Join GW as Lidster Enters 20th Season
March 12, 2007
WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington men's soccer head coach George Lidster has announced three recruits will join the Colonials' roster for the Fall 2007 season.
Defender Kory Trott (Mickleton, NJ/Tower Hill School), forward Steve Wujek (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) and goalkeeper Erik Haug (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach) will join the men's soccer team next season.
"We are very excited about our 2007 recruiting class because each of these players has had tremendous success at the youth soccer level," said Lidster, who has led GW to three NCAA Tournaments during his tenure. "They all possess a strong commitment to continue that success as they move forward to the college game. What we will gain from this class is a group of individuals that hold themselves to a very high standard in the classroom and on the field. We expect great contributions from this group as soon as this Fall."
"Kory brings a stable defensive presence that we will need with the graduation of co-captain and four-year starter Jeremiah Burke. He has had great success at every level he has played at. His great work rate and attitude will only enhance our growth as a team as he will push everybody around him to continue to improve."
"Steve brings an exciting blend of a blue-collar work ethic and great soccer ability. He is the kind of player that can go past you or right through you. Having been a vital part of one of the top youth teams in the US, Steve is a forward that will disrupt many defenses in coming seasons with his workman-like approach to the game and his ability to attack."
"Erik is an exciting addition because he is an athletic and talented goalkeeper who I feel is just starting to realize his potential. Coming from talent-rich Southern California, Erik will has played against and trained with some of the top players in the United States. I look forward to watching his continued growth here at GW."
GW posted a 5-9-3 overall record in 2006, 2-5-2 in Atlantic 10 play. The Colonials are set to return 21 players for the Fall 2007 season, including A-10 All-Rookie Team selection Andrew Stadler, leading scorer Thomas Stuber, team co-captain Matt Davis and starting goalkeeper Greg Yahr.
