Richmond Announcement

RICHMOND, Va. - George Washington's Koby Osei-Wusu has signed with the Richmond Kickers of the United Soccer League for the upcoming season, the club announced Monday.

The midfielder joins the professional club after a successful preseason trial, in which he scored three goals in five games with the Kickers.

"I'm delighted for Koby," GW head coach Craig Jones said. "I know that playing professionally has been a goal of his since he first came to GW. He's been focused and determined to get to this point, and the extra work he's put in has been rewarded with his first pro contract. That hard work continues now with Richmond, and I look forward to following his career in the pros."

Osei-Wusu completed a standout collegiate career in the fall, helping GW post a 9-7-2 record and earn the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Maryland native ranked third among Colonials with 10 points via four goals and two assists.

Osei-Wusu's first career goal was a memorable strike from midfield off a restart at nationally ranked North Carolina on Sept. 19 that was featured by NCAA.com and several national outlets. He was at his best when it mattered most as a senior, tallying seven points over the final six games of the season.

For his GW career, Osei-Wusu played more than 4,000 minutes over 63 appearances. He tallied four goals and eight assists, including five helpers during the 2015 season to spur the Colonials to an A-10 regular season title.

The Richmond Kickers, who have an affiliation agreement with D.C. United of Major League Soccer, begin their regular season on Sunday afternoon at Bethlehem Steel FC.
