March 28, 2003

WASHINGTON, DC - Freshman midfielder Michael Higgins (Potomac, MD/Model Secondary School) will travel to Kortrijk, Belgium from April 19-20, 2003 as a member of the U.S. Deaf Soccer Association (USDSA) team.

Higgins was named to the 18-man roster from a pool of 30 finalists that competed for the honor. The team also will compete at the 3rd PAAMDES (Pan American de Sordes - Deaf Pan Am Games) that will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina from September 19-28, 2003.

The USDSA Deaflympics and international deaf soccer tournaments are truly an international event, the Olympiad for the deaf. It is the pinnacle of their sport achievements, the venue for all elite deaf sports athletes to gather and display their individual prowess. The next Deaflympics is planned for 2005 in Melbourne, Australia.
