WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University freshman Andrew Stadler scored two goals to lead the Colonials to a 2-1 victory over the Virginia Military Institute in an exhibition match in Lexington, VA, on Friday afternoon.

Stadler, who was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie Team along with fellow Wisconsin-native Mike Briscoe on July 10, got assists from rookies Erick Perez-Segnini and George Garcia in GW's final preseason tune-up match at VMI. The Colonials battled Liberty to a scoreless draw at Mount Vernon Athletics Complex on August 14. The Flames and Keydets were picked to finish fourth and eighth, respectively, in the Big South preseason poll.

Head coach George Lidster, entering his 19th season, returns 12 players, six of whom were members of the Colonials' 2004 Atlantic 10 Championship squad, from his 2005 roster and welcomes 14 freshmen to this year's lineup.

GW now has a week to prepare for its season opener versus Georgetown in the DC College Cup hosted by American. That match will kick-off at 2:30 pm on August 25.
