Men's Soccer Johannsson Awarded Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

Junior Arnar Johannsson Records 11 Points in First Two Matches of the Season

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Atlantic 10 awarded junior forward Arnar Johannsson (Reykjavik, Iceland/CC of Iceland) Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for men's soccer for his outstanding play in George Washington's first two matches of the season.

Johannsson made the most of his new starting role, recording five goals and an assist for 11 total points in two matches this past weekend at the D.C. College Cup. Johannsson scored the game-winning goal versus Georgetown and added an assist as the Colonials (2-0) won their season-opener over the Hoyas, 3-1 on Friday, August 30.

Johannsson followed up this strong showing by scoring all four of GW's goals in a 4-0 route of Howard on Sunday, September 1. His 11-point performance at the D.C. College Cup earned him a spot on the all-tournament team.
