WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman men's soccer player Luke Wildy has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the Colonials' season-opening match versus Georgetown, the league office has announced.

Wildy scored two goals in the first 30 minutes of his collegiate career to lead GW to a 2-0 first-half lead versus Georgetown in the DC College Cup on August 25.

Wildy scored on a blast from 35 yards away in the 26th minute, then lobbed a shot over the Hoyas goalkeeper from the top of the 18-yard box in the 31st minute to spot the Colonials a 2-0 lead. Wildy, who was injured on his second goal and missed the remainder of the Cup, and teammate Greg McKay were named to the All-Tournament team following GW's 2-0 shutout victory over Howard on August 27.

GW (1-1) travels to Farmville, VA, Wednesday to face Longwood at 6:00 pm.
