GW jumped on top first in the 39th minute on the first of two penalty kicks the Colonials Matt Osborne would put between the pipes past the Eagles goalkeeper Kirk Latibeaudiere. A freshman, Latibeaudiere was making his first career start.
GSU tied the game the 69th minute when Martin Cunningham put home a rebound of a saved shot by GW's goalkeeper Nick Parypinski. Parypinski made a sprawling save on an initial shot by Cunningham in the mouth of the goal, but was unable to recover in time to stop the second shot.
The Colonials were able to take the lead again in the 77th minute when GW received its second penalty kick of the day. Osborne converted the shot putting GW on top.
The Eagles turned up the pressure and tied the game in the 87th minute when GW was unable to clear the ball and GSU's Tony Moffat scored on a loose ball in front of the net.
Neither team was able to capitalize on a number of opportunities in the two overtime periods and ended the day in a tie.
The Colonials (3-2-2) next host Howard on Monday, September 25 at 2:00 pm.
