NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington men's soccer senior forward Yoni Berhanu earned a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference's Player of the Week award Monday after leading the Colonials with five points in two matches this past weekend.

Berhanu totaled two goals and an assist as GW posted a 0-1-1 mark at the Jacksonville Tournament in Jacksoville, Fla. He converted a penalty kick against both the host Dolphins and Stetson Hatters, and added an assist against Stetson, to bring his season totals to four goals and nine points - good for the Top 4 in the Atlantic 10 in each category. Berhanu has successfully converted all three of his spot attempts so far this season.

It marks the first weekly honor from the league for Berhanu, who was the 2008 A-10 Rookie of the Year. In 59 career matches, he has amassed 13 goals and 12 assists for 38 points.

Berhanu shared this week's award with Charlotte's Evan James, who also registered five points in two matches.

GW (2-3-2) will complete non-conference play at Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C., this Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
