George Washington men's soccer makes the trip to VCU on Saturday for an Atlantic 10 matchup. The Colonials (5-6-2, 2-2 A-10) face the conference co-leaders at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va, at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: GW fell, 5-3, to La Salle in a wild one Wednesday in Philadelphia. The Colonials got goals from Brady O'Connor, Koby Osei-Wusu and Peirce Williams after halftime to tie it at 3, but the Explorers scored twice in the final 1:41 to take the victory.

IN FOCUS: GW's offense has started to find its stride in A-10 play. After averaging 1.11 goals per game through the nonconference schedule, the Colonials have averaged 1.75 goals in their four conference games. They matched a season-high Wednesday with their three goals.

FUN FACT: GW had only played VCU twice before the Rams joined the A-10 in 2012. One of those meetings was in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament. The Colonials had their season ended with a 2-0 loss. VCU ended up advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals before losing to UC-Santa Barbara.

SCOUTING VCU: The Rams (6-3, 3-0) have won five straight games, including Wednesday's 4-0 win over Saint Louis. They're tied with Rhode Island atop the A-10 standings.

VCU leads the conference at 2.0 goals per game, paced by six goals from Luc Fatton. The Rams have also been stingy on defense, allowing just 10 goals in their nine games. Mario Sequeira has four shutouts in net.

COMING UP: GW hosts Davidson next Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Colonials close their home slate at GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus next week celebrating Senior Day on Oct. 21.
