Stadler Collects Second A-10 Player of the Week Honor

Oct. 20, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - George Washington junior forward Andy Stadler was named Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. Stadler totaled five points to spark GW to a 5-2 rout against Temple on Friday.

Stadler, who was also chosen A-10 co-Player of the Week on Sept. 22, scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 16th minute, and added an assist against the Owls to increase his conference-leading point total to 26 through 11 matches played. Stadler also leads the A-10 with 12 goals and five game-winners and is in the Top 5 in NCAA Division I in goals, points and points per game (2.36).

The two-goal game was Stadler's fourth of the season and fifth of his career. Through 42 career matches, Stadler ranks 11th all-time at GW with 52 points (20g/12a). Stadler, who was also named to the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the Week on Sept. 29, split the weekly award with Saint Louis' Kyle Patterson.

GW (6-4-2, 2-1-1 A-10) continues A-10 play Friday at Rhode Island at 7:00 pm and Sunday at Massachusetts at 1:00 pm. The Colonials are currently tied for second place in the league standings, along with Charlotte and Temple, with seven points and are ranked sixth in this week's NSCAA Middle Atlantic regional Top 10.
