Adams Tallies In Overtime To Lift Men's Soccer Over Xavier, 1-0

CINCINNATI, OH (Oct. 24) - Junior defender Zak Adams tallied his first career goal with 13 seconds remaining in the first period of "golden goal" overtime to lift George Washington to a 1-0 victory at Xavier this afternoon in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action.

Adams' game-winning goal came after senior midfielder Evan Nierman fired a free kick on Xavier's goal. XU goalkeeper Paul Wesseling saved Nierman's blast, but deflected to ball toward the on-rushing Adams. Adams one-timed the ball between an outstretched Wesseling and the right post for the winning tally.

Michael Jelencovich recorded six saves between the pipes for GW, his second shutout of the season. Wesseling tallied three for Xavier.
