SPARTANBURG, SC (Sept. 12, 1999) -- A pair of goals from Marcus Talbert gave Wofford College a 2-0 victory over George Washington this afternoon in the final match of the Mary Black/Wofford College Fall Classic.
Talbert broke GW's back with his first strike, coming just 18 seconds before halftime, on assists by Dixon Dedman and Chris O'Neill. ONeill gave Talbert a feeding pass on a breakaway in the 62nd minute and Talbert netted the Terriers second goal of the match.
Wofford outshot GW 10-8 for the match. GW goalkeeper Nick Parypinski, starting in place of Michael Jelencovich who was suspended after receiving a red card in Saturday's loss to Georgia Southern, recorded six saves. Daniel Wilson tallied seven saves for Wofford.
GW sophomore forward Jason Holloway saw his streak of scoring in each of GW's matches this season end. Holloway took four of GW's eight shots.
