Men's Squash Grabs Win over Stanford at Yale Round Robin

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The No. 17-ranked George Washington men's squash topped No. 25 Stanford on Saturday afternoon at the Yale Round Robin, but went on to drop two matches against No. 10 Williams and No. 14 Middlebury.

GW (7-6) opened the weekend with a 8-1 victory over the Cardinal, led by Islam El-Fiky and Omar Sobhy in the top two positions.

Sobhy surrendered just seven points throughout his 3-0 sweep of Tyler Strand at No 2., while El-Fiky calmly defeated Chris Baldock 11-8, 11-7, 12-10. The Colonials also earned straight-set victories from Adam Pistel, Larkin Brinkworth and David Moxley. At the No. 5 position Sam Ehrlich dropped a one-sided opening game against Paul Lee before storming back to clinch a 3-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-4 win.

On Sunday GW suffered a pair of 7-2 losses to Williams and Middlebury.

The Colonials will return home to face St. Lawrence on Thursday afternoon at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center at 4:00 pm.
