No. 13 Men's Squash Splits Final Regular-Season Matches

WASHINGTON - The No. 13 George Washington men's team squash split its final weekend of regular-season matches, concluding the run with a 9-0 shutout at Dickinson on Saturday afternoon.

GW (7-7) now awaits seeding for the upcoming College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships, which will be held this weekend at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Opponents and brackets will be announced later this week.

Friday - Drexel 9, GW 0

GW faced a tough test in its home finale by hosting No. 5 Drexel, but the Dragons prevailed after winning seven of nine matches in three games.

Senior Andres de Frutos put up a valiant effort in the final home match of his career, taking the first two games at the No. 3 position on the ladder, before ultimately falling in five. Junior John Bassett also stole a game at No. 8 in a 3-1 loss.

Saturday - GW 9, Dickinson 0

The Colonials rebounded on Saturday to close the regular season with a win, taking down homestanding Dickinson, 9-0, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Seven of the nine victories came in three games as Jamie Oakley, Oisin Logan, de Frutos, Juan Laguna, Billy Berner, Omar Mussehl and Bassett all cruised to wins.

Sophomore Moudy Abdel-Maksoud and senior Nicolas Valderrama both returned to the lineup after being held out of Friday's match. Abdel-Maksoud stumbled in the third game but otherwise looked strong in an 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3 win at No. 3.

Valderrama had to erase an early 2-0 deficit but stormed back for his 26th career victory with an 11-13, 4-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 win at No. 7
