Men's Squash Completes Weekend in Annapolis With 9-0 Sweep of No. 26 Hobart
Nov. 13, 2011 ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 16-ranked George Washington men's squash team completed a perfect weekend at the Naval Academy with a 9-0 sweep of No. 26 Hobart College on Sunday afternoon. GW (2-0) had little trouble with Hobart, allowing just one match to extend past three sets. Sophomore Larkin Brinkworth won his first set against Cesar Peralta, 11-6, but dropped the second frame, 7-11. Brinkworth then rebounded in the final two sets to come away with a 3-1 victory in the No. 8 position on the ladder. Junior Islam El-Fiky rolled to a 3-0 (11-4, 11-6, 11-7) decision over Corey Kabot in the top position on the ladder and junior Omar Sobhy followed suit in the second slot, disposing Daniel Pelaez in straight sets (11-2, 11-2, 11-4). The GW men's squash team will return to action next weekend with a huge matchup against No. 7 Dartmouth on Saturday in Annapolis, Md., at 2 p.m. GW will also host Haverford at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
