No. 16 Men's Squash Wins Third in a Row, 7-2 Over No. 21 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 16-ranked George Washington men's squash team picked up its third win in a row on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 21 Amherst, 7-2. GW (6-1) concludes its weekend in New England on Sunday with a doubleheader against No. 18 Colby (11 a.m.) and No. 2 Trinity (1 p.m.) in Hartford, Conn. The Colonials were pushed to extra sets in four of their seven wins while senior Omar Sobhy, junior Sam Ehrlich and sophomore Browning Platt prevailed in straight sets. Freshman James Reiss ran his individual record to 7-0 with a five-set win over Charles Quintin at No. 4. Set scores were 12-10, 11-13, 10-12, 11-6, 11-7. Senior Islam El-Fiky and freshman Ahmed Abdel-Latif were both pushed to extra sets in their matches. El-Fiky dropped the third set in a 12-10, 11-9, 4-11, 13-11 win over Noah Browne at No. 1 while Latif edged out Scott Desantis in five sets (11-8, 9-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9) at No. 3. The Colonials will have a full month off for final exams and winter recess before a training trip to the Grand Cayman Islands, where they will face the University College of Grand Cayman Islands on January 11.
