GW Squash Announces 2013-14 Schedule
Both Teams Host Four Matches at Matthew J. Grossman Courts
Sep 4, 2013
WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's and women's squash teams have each released their respective 2013-14 match schedules, head coach Wendy Lawrence has announced.
As with years past, each schedule features a number of teams ranked in the top quarter of the College Squash Association (CSA) National Rankings. In total, the men's team will play seven teams ranked in the top 15 of the final 2012-13 CSA National Rankings, while the women's team will face eight such programs.
The men's team finished last season ranked No. 19 in the CSA National Rankings while the women's team, after peaking at a program best No. 12 during the regular season, finished the season ranked No. 13.
Both squads will open their respective seasons on Friday, November 8 against district rival Georgetown at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center.
The Georgetown match is the first of four scheduled home matches for both the men's and women's teams, with several marquee opponents set to visit the Foggy Bottom campus for the first time in program history.
Additional home matches for the men's team include Trinity (Conn.) on January 7 and a doubleheader against Virginia and Bucknell on February 8. Trinity has won 14 of the last 15 CSA National Championships and is making its first-ever visit to GW.
The women's team will host Princeton on December 7 and a doubleheader against Virginia and Bucknell on February 8. Princeton finished last season as the No. 4-ranked team in the CSA.
Enhancements to the GW Squash facility are now complete with new bleacher-style
seating and an electronic scoring system which enhances the viewing experience for the hundreds of fans that watch the Colonials compete on the glass-backed Matthew J. Grossman Courts
