GW Squash to Host Alumni Gathering in NYC
Alumni and Friends of the Program to Celebrate at NYC's Harmonie Club
Nov. 19, 2013
One of the scheduling philosophies instilled by GW Director of Athletics and Recreation Patrick Nero is the emphasis on visiting locales where there is a strong alumni presence.
Taking that into consideration, GW Squash head coach Wendy Lawrence scheduled a visit to New York City to face Columbia on Saturday, November 23.
The night before, the GW Squash program will host its first-ever, on-location Alumni Gathering at the Harmonie Club on New York's Upper East Side.
"We have a lot of squash alum that live and work in the New York City metro area," said head coach Wendy Lawrence. "We are excited to welcome varsity alumni, club alumni, parents of current players and past players and friends of the program to the Harmonie Club. We are going to enjoy the time together and talk about how far the program has come and the direction we are headed."
The attendees are invited to cheer on the Colonials as they face Columbia on Saturday at the Street Squash Facility on 115th street between Lennox and 5th Avenue.
"Connecting with our alumni is important because now that we are an established varsity program we want to show past athletes how far we have come," said sophomore Reid Breck. "The former players laid the groundwork for us to be able to excel on the national level and we are looking forward to thanking them in person."
