GW Men's Squash Stuns #9 Penn, Falls to #15 Bates on Saturday
WASHINGTON - The No. 16 nationally ranked George Washington men's squash team split a doubleheader on Saturday at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center, falling to No. 15 Bates before rallying for an upset of No. 9 Penn.

WASHINGTON - The No. 19 George Washington men's squash team will look to conclude its fall schedule with an undefeated record when it visits No. 12 Columbia (Sat., 5 p.m.) and No. 14 Penn (Sun., 3 p.m.) this weekend.

On Friday evening, the GW Squash program will host its first-ever, on-site alumni reception (link) at the Harmonie Club on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

GW (3-0) has won three straight matches to open the season with victories over Georgetown, Johns Hopkins and Hobart.

Six players carry a perfect 3-0 individual record into this weekend's matches. Sophomores James Reiss and Reid Breck have each picked up where they left off following impressive freshman seasons while four newcomers, freshmen Auguste Boova, Andres de Frutos, Josh Marks and Nicolas Valderrama, have each won the first three collegiate matches of their respective careers.

Last season, GW recorded its biggest win in program history when it defeated then-No. 9 Penn, 5-4, at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts at Lerner Health & Wellness Center. The Colonials rallied from a 4-3 deficit by winning the final two matches, including a five-set victory by Reiss, to stun the Quakers.

GW lost to Columbia, 8-1, last season at the Yale Round Robin on January 19.
