Men's Swimming & Diving Sweeps Local Foes

Colonials picked up wins over American and Georgetown on Saturday

2017-18: Joined swim team following conclusion of water polo season...Swam in three meets for the Colonials, including the A-10 Championships...Posted a season-best time of 20.97 seconds in the 50 free to earn a spot in GW's all-time top 10...Swam the 50 free (22.44) at the conference meet, where GW won a second straight championship...Split goaltending duties to help Colonials water polo squad earn their first conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth...Member of the All-MAWPC Championship Second Team...Recognized on A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2016-17: Ranked second on the men's water polo team with 69 saves while adding seven steals, four assists and recording a .483 save percentage...Did not compete with the swim team.

2015-16: Split time between goal and center defender in his debut water polo season ... Scored eight goals and added an assist for nine points ... Also registered 35 saves in net against 47 goals allowed for a .427 save percentage ...Trained with the swim team in the fall but did not compete in any meets.

High School: A two-time All-Region selection (2014, 2015) out of Billy Ryan High School...2015 All-State selection...set 50 freestyle district record...Holds school records in the 100 free, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke...Member of the National Honor Society...Also competes as a goalie on GW's men's water polo team.

Personal: Born Austin James Pyrch on April 17, 1997, in New Haven, Connecticut...Son of Krissa and James Pyrch...Older sister, Mikaela, was a member of GW's women's water polo team...Majoring in chemistry.
