Birkir Jonsson was named assistant coach of the George Washington men's and women's swimming teams in the fall of 2012.
Hailing from Iceland, Jonsson comes to George Washington from Old Dominion University, where he graduated with a degree in communication in May of 2012.
Jonsson earned four letters at Old Dominion in swimming and diving from 2008 to 2012.
Out of the pool, Jonsson was a member of Tau Sigma, a national honors society for transfer students, and was named to the Old Dominion University Dean's List for his academic success in the fall of 2011 and spring of 2012.
Jonsson resides in Bethesda, Md.
