Men's Swimming Falls To Army in Home Finale, 155-86

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington swimming & diving team fell to Army in its home finale, 155-86, Friday at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. Junior David Zenk won individual two events to show the way for the Colonials. Sophomore Rick Rogers and freshman Konrad Kopczynski also captured individual titles.

Zenk won both the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke on the day in times of 1:55.10 and 51.71, respectively. The junior from St. Louis, MO also swam the opening leg of the victorious 200-yard medley relay team (1:38.20) along with Rogers, junior Tom Pullen and freshman David Meyer.

Rogers won the 50-yard freestyle (22.23) while Kopczynski captured the 100-yard freestyle in 48.80.

Friday afternoon's meet was the final home competition for seniors Drew Boudreau, Mark DeSimone and Danny Johnson. Boudreau finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.47. DeSimone earned a pair of seventh place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (24.79) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.92). Johnson was a member of a second place finishing 400-yard freestyle relay along with Meyer, Kopczynski and sophomore Stephen Cosme.

 

 

The Colonials conclude their regular season schedule with a dual meet at George Mason Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1:00 pm in its final tuneup before the Atlantic 10 Championships (Wed.-Sat., Feb. 20-23 in Buffalo, NY).
