Zenk Shatters School and Conference Records at Atlantic 10 Championships

BUFFALO, NY - David Zenk shattered the Atlantic 10 and George Washington record in the 200-yard IM in the second day of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships held at the Flickinger Center on the Erie Community College campus. Zenk repeated as conference champion in the 200-IM after hitting the wall in 1:49.38. The previous school and Atlantic 10 record was held by Juan Bocanegra who swam a 1:49.81 in 1999.

The men also had solid performances by Dan Mahoney who finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:38.89 and a seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The lineup of Jonathan Sabin, Jeff Cohn, Rick Rogers, and Zenk finished the relay in 1:24.86. Rogers also took home a 12th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.50

After day two the Colonials are currently in eighth place with 114.5 points. Massachusetts is still dominating the leader board with a score of 246. Duquesne is in second place with 194.5. St. Bonaventure and La Salle are tied for third with 169 points apiece. Rhode Island is in fifth (136), Xavier in sixth (132), Fordham in seventh (123), George Washington in eighth (114.5) and St. Louis in ninth (92).

The third day of the Atlantic 10 Championships begins tomorrow at 10:30 am. David Zenk will look to set the mark in the 400-yard IM, and possibly set another school or conference record.
