GW Swimming Finishes in Top Three in Second Day at A-10s

BUFFALO, NY - The Colonials swimming saw three program records fall and two top-three finishes during the second day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming Championships at the Erie Community College Pool on Thursday.
Senior Paola Leor broke two GW records when she raced in the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle. Leor came in at 2:04.66, just .01 faster than her 2010 record time in the 200 IM. In the 50 free, she finished .10 faster than her 2010 time of 23.47.
Sophomore Phillip Graeter reached the podium with this his third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a time of 1:50.19.
The men's squad also took third-place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the first GW relay team to reach the podium since the 2001-02 800-yard freestyle relay team at the A-10 Championships. Marshall Seedorff, Luke Quimby, Alex Etz and Niccolo Wilson teamed up to post a time 1:22.57.
Freshman Caroline Myers finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:34.80. Myers and Leor teamed up with Sydney Saunders and Sloan Saunders in the 200-yard freestyle relay to tie GW's 2009 record held by Katrina Timlin, Laura Myers, Jessica Miga and Leor.
The men's squad had top showings from Wilson and Seedorff in the 50-yard freestyle race. Wilson took fifth with a time of 20.94, while Seedorff finished atop the B-Finals touching in at 20.66.
In the men's 500-yard freestyle, the Colonials netted points with the sixth-place finish by Stephen Nelson (4:38.47), a seventh-place finish by Niklas Glenesk (4:39.47), and a ninth-place finish by Spencer Neff (4:35.94).
The third day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming Championships continue with prelims at 10:30 a.m. with finals at 6:30 p.m.
