Divers Continue at NCAA Zone Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Jake Ortiz led GW's divers Tuesday at the NCAA Zone A Championships.

The junior from New York posted 248.15 points on the 1-meter board to place 30th on the second of three days at Rutgers Aquatic Center.

Freshman Peter Nachtwey finished 36th in his NCAA Zones debut on 1-meter with 226.0, while classmate Nick Tomczyk took 40th with 159.95.

The meet concludes Wednesday with Nachtwey in action on platform. The top 18 competitors during the preliminary round will move on to the finals with five spots in the NCAA field on the line.

"Another successful day of diving today at NCAA Zones," GW head diving coach Anthony Crowder said. "The boys hit some strong dives today. Jake and Nick had a great last meet of the season, while training continues for Peter with platform to finish out the meet."
