WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington swimming team was back in action Friday and Saturday, swimming DC rivals Catholic and American.

While no formal points were assigned in this two-day meet, the men's swim team took first place in 11 of 13 men's events. In the 500-yard freestyle, the GW men took places one through seven.

Freshmen Stephan Franke and Niklas Glenesk led the men's team with three victories each against Catholic and American. Freshman Paolo De Luca won two events.

The women's team won the 200-yard butterfly led by Noelle Miesfeld who posted a time of 2:14.09. The GW women's team collected five second-place finishes in 13 events.

GW returns to the Charles E. Smith Center pool on Oct. 24 to host Georgetown at 1 p.m.
