David Zenk Named Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week

Jan. 14, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced today that junior David Zenk (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day School) has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week. This marks the sixth time in Zenk's career, and the second time this season that he has received a conference weekly honor.

Last weekend at the Rhode Island Invitational, Zenk beat out swimmers from Atlantic 10 rivals, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and La Salle to win three individual races. Zenk swept the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events in times of 52.28 and 1:52.65, respectively. The Atlantic 10 record holder in the 200-yard IM also took that same event at the two-day annual Invite, taking the crown in 1:55.21.

The two-sport athlete (Water Polo) also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a third place finish. Despite the team placing third, Zenk swam the fastest leg of any swimmer in that event of 46.31 seconds.

Zenk and the Colonials' next competition is scheduled for Sunday, January 20 against their foe from the Hilltop, Georgetown, at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. The diving portion of the meet will start at 11:00 am, while the swimming half will begin at 1:00 pm.
