David Zenk Named Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Co-Performer of the Week

Jan. 28, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced today that junior David Zenk (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day School) has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming & Diving Co-Performer of the Week. This marks the seventh time in Zenk's career, and the third time this season that he has received a conference weekly honor.

Last weekend at GW's home finale versus Army, Zenk won both the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke in times of 1:55.10 an 51.71, respectively. The two-sport athlete also swam the opening leg of the victorious 200-yard medley relay that finished in 1:38.20. His 24.52 second 50-yard backstroke to start the race gave the Colonials a comfortable 1.2 second lead which they held on to the remainder of the event.

For the season, Zenk has won 17 of 19 (89.5%) individual events that he has raced in and set six meet records. The St. Louis, MO, native finished second in both races which he was not victorious.

Zenk and the Colonials close out their regular season Saturday, Feb. 2 when they travel to Fairfax, VA, to take on George Mason at 1:00 pm. The dual meet with the Patriots is the Colonials' final tuneup before the Atlantic 10 Championships (Feb. 20-23) in Buffalo, NY.
